“Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen” (Mark 16:6)!
In a few days Christians around the world will celebrate Easter Sunday, the day that Christ Jesus, the only Son of God was raised from the dead. Even so, we are constantly reminded that we live in a fallen world. Troubles are everywhere. Wars continue to rage and innocent people continue to die. Mothers and fathers anguish in despair as they listen to their children cry from hunger. Hate abounds, hearts grow cold, forgiveness is distant, and hope is growing dim. What then is the answer? The answer is in our Easter Celebration. Though we live in a fallen world, we serve a Risen Christ! Do you know Him today, and if you do, have you shared Him with a lost person? Lost people are not hard to find. Pray that God will send a lost person your way and they will show up. I can testify to that.
In the early years of our business my wife and I worked together, just the two of us. One day as I sat at my desk I heard the door open and as usual, my wife was giving a cheery “hello.” In a few moments she brought a man into my office and exclaimed, “This man came in and wants to be saved.” Neither of us had ever seen him before, so I inquired, “What brought you into an insurance office to be saved?” He replied, “I spent last night sleeping in the woods, and decided that today I would kill myself cause it ain’t worth living, but some woman saw me walking down the sidewalk and said, `Mister, come here, I want to give you some money.” “She gave me a twenty dollar bill and so I was going to get some food, but I thought, what good is food if I die and go to hell, so I decided to come in here and get saved.” Know what? He did, we prayed for his salvation and he was ushered into the Kingdom of God. That is what Christ’s resurrection is all about. The Father said of the prodigal son, “My son was dead, but now he is alive.” God is an expert at bringing life to the direst of situations.
As we celebrate Easter Sunday, let’s be sure that our children know that it is more than Easter eggs and bunny rabbits. Tell them about Jesus, about the Cross, the Lamb of God. That He is risen!
