“And on the third day, there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; and Jesus and His disciples were invited.” (John 2: 1-2).
Has your marriage ever needed a miracle? If it hasn’t, it will. Jesus Himself said, “In this world you will have tribulation.” He also said, “Fear not, I have overcome the world.” Translated: We live in a fallen world where bad things at times happen to good people. Even so, God is not sitting in heaven with His eyes closed and arms folded. He is still our all powerful, all knowing God whose arms are not so short that He cannot reach into our lives and supply a miracle.
The Gospel According to John records the very first miracle performed by Jesus. A wedding feast was under way, and the dozens who hadn’t bothered to RSVP decided to show up. Mary, the mother of Jesus, heard about their dilemma and told her Son, “They have run out of wine.” She and the disciples we very aware of the awesome event that had recently taken place in the Jordan River. He had reported to her that John had baptized Him in water and suddenly, His Heavenly Father showed up and baptized Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, saying, “This is My Son, in whom I am will pleased.” Mary, a mighty woman of faith, instructed her Son to use His miraculous power to help this Jewish family. She also gave some sage advice to the servants, “Whatever He says, do it!” Calling for six water pots to be filled with water, Jesus turned water into wine.
We Christians have heard this wonderful story so many times that we tend to overlook the power of the miracle. Water turned into wine? Wow! Think about it! One minute you have water, the next minute you have the most incredulous wine ever. Guess what? Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever! He changes not, but thanks be to the Father, He changed our Old Covenant (Law of Moses) to our New Covenant of Grace. Forgiveness, Mercy, and Grace are the most wonderful miracles ever. Having obtained mercy instead of Justice, we now have Grace, abundant Grace. Need a miracle? Begin receiving it by giving Jesus an open invitation to your home and your heart. Tell Him what you need and then believe that He will do it.
Thanks for your prayers and support. God is moving! In Christ, Don & Penny.
