What Is In Your Future?

By January 1, 2016Uncategorized

Another year has come and gone, so it’s time to stop and reflect on the past and set our eyes and goals on the things that are future.  Most of us would have to say that we weren’t very faithful in keeping many of last years New Year resolutions, but we can all say that God was and continues to be steadfast and faithful in all of His promises towards us.  When we are faithless, He continues to be faithful.  When we are worried or dismayed, His Word remains true.  When we do not know which way to go, His Spirit is always directing our path.   Today is a good time to stop, look, and listen, for His Word declares, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death” (Proverbs 14:12).   The death that God is referring to is not always a physical death.  It can be the death of a marriage, a wonderful relationship, a job, or seemingly, one’s desire to move on into the future.

How can you know the right way when the bible makes it clear that there is a way that has the appearance of being right?   First of all, God has given us His Word.  Jesus said, “If you abide in me, and my Word abides in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done to you” (John 15: 7).   Therefore, if we are in need of direction, His Word will give you guidance as to the things that are pleasing to Him and things that are not pleasing to Him.  Secondly,  We must learn to know His voice.  The Holy Spirit that lives and resides in the heart of every born again believer is continually speaking to our soul person.  We can know it is Him because His voice will always align with His Word.  If the voice you hear is not aligned with His Word, then you are listening to a lying spirit.  Thirdly, God will always confirm every decision you make by giving you perfect peace. Should you not have perfect peace, then the answer is no, and if there seems to be no answer, that is God’s way of saying “wait.”   Remember, Satan, whom Jesus dubbed the father of lies, cannot give you peace about anything because he can’t give what he does not have.

Dear Reader, God has a wonderful plan that He has mapped out just for you.  If your past has been full of mistakes and errors, take comfort in knowing that God is not holding your past or your sins against you.  Take courage in knowing that He will “never” leave or forsake you.  That means that no matter the circumstance, no matter how great the error or sin, He is still in your corner.  When God says “never,”  that is exactly what He means.  Take command of your life by learning to; “trust in God with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Prov. 3:5).  Take comfort in knowing that God loves you where you are, but He has a terrific plan that will not leave you where you are.

Penny and I thank you for allowing us to minister into your life.  We encourage you to take a few minutes (or more) to pray and seek the Lord, take communion, and begin the year 2016 with a new found confidence and determination to make this year the greatest year of your life.  If you have questions or prayer requests, please feel free to let us know.  In Christ Jesus, Don & Penny
